WINTERS WORLD IN PHOTOS FEATURING MIDDLESBROUGH AND RANGERS DESTINED FOR THE PLAY-OFFS
30th April 2015

jeff winter
Three days on the bounce looking after Oliver, a great start to the week. Tuesday, before going to the Riverside, a morning in Whitby followed by a trip to the stables to see the horses.

jeff winter
Judging by the height of his father and grandpa don't think Oliver will ever be a jockey though!! That's without mentioning weight!!!

jeff winter
In the tunnel ready to come out, 90 minutes that could be season defining. Tense, nervous cracking atmosphere just like Derby, home fans bouncing, now to silence them.

jeff winter
Full time and after an unbelievable start where Boro literally blew Wolves away, typically we ended up hanging on. Never mind I'd backed them to win 2-1. Praying for Watford to lose at Forest on Wednesday then for us to win at Norwich on Friday then it's back in our own hands. Don't want much, do I?

jeff winter
The Red Faction display a new banner against Wolves. The whole ground was bouncing, even the East Stand singing. Just got to get the West Stand on board now!!

jeff winter
Not bad for a midweek game, just under 800 Wolves fans at the Boro on Tuesday night. Having said that for such an important game I'm sure Boro would have taken at least twice as many.

jeff winter
Let battle commence - it's like a cup final and this is why we love football.

jeff winter
Full time, magnificent as Steve McLaren would say, heroes one and all. Blew them away first twenty then defended gallantly.

Now for the journey home, welcoming in the big 6-0 at midnight. In bed near airport by 2.15am but not tired, still buzzing. Four hours sleep the plan, doubt if I got two and a half. "Mighty Boro" ringing in my ears!! Great company in the car from Dewsy, thinks he's Lewis Hamilton, but Norwich to Leeds in less than three hours qualifies him for a front of the grid spot in my book.

Text from Sam saying that he asked Oliver who he loves and he'd said "Pa". That's all I wanted for my birthday, not true, actually I wanted to take him away with me. But mother couldn't bare to be without him for so long!! Only a week, well six days holiday shortened to make sure I'm back in time for Fulham. Birthday bets on so hoping for good news when I land, hopefully that either Bournemouth or Watford have slipped up. Now would make it a perfect birthday!!

jeff winter
In between games there was chance for a few days relaxation in the sun of Tenerife. Here's the sun going down on my final night there, whether the sun will be going down on Boro's automatic promotion hopes in the next few days remains to be seen.

jeff winter
After a few hours sleep upon my return from Tenerife it was an early morning start along with 6,000 other Boro supporters for the must win game at Fulham. Prior to the match Watford had won at Brighton, for me it was likely to be the playoffs whatever happened by the banks of the Thames.

jeff winter
It's all over and a remarkable second half saw Boro start playing but in gambling for the win end up losing. I agreed with Aitor's strategy. Tomlin lost concentration on the half way line and let McCormack run free. It wasn't going to matter anyway.

jeff winter
Monday and before winning money on Bournemouth, no shame, it was never in doubt!! A day out with the cool dude.

THE WEEK AHEAD

Wednesday and with Boro and Rangers destined for play-offs a chance to also see how Darlington fare against local rivals Spennymoor in their own play off semi final. Thursday and the start of a busy weekend of speaking.

First stop Wellingborough for a talk in at a local pub. Thursday and up to Egremont in Cumbria for a Sportsman's Dinner. Saturday the plan had been to double back to Teesside for the final home league game against Brighton. Instead, with that game not being important other than for jockeying for play off positions, common sense se prevails and as I'm up speaking in Prestwich on the night, a more convenient football destination is Tynecastle for Hearts v Rangers.

Are you planning a Speakers Evening or fundraiser? You can be assured that as well as speaking I will give maximum help to fundraising on the evening with my auctioneering skills, contact me regarding availability on jeffwinter@jeffwinterentertainmentandmedia.co.uk.

Just a thought, nowadays many smaller organisations have stopped doing Sportmanís evenings mainly due to the economic recession and the increasing costs. If your club doesnít have the numbers to support the traditional speakers evening then why not book me for a one man show, I regularly do these, my normal After Dinner slot followed by a Q & A session and fundraising activities. I can assure you there is more than enough content to fill the night.

Have a good week.
