Stood sedately in his technical area, but not for long. Lennon as usual was soon bouncing around, arms in crucifix position, being his normal pleasant obnoxious self. It's not just a Celtic thing although I am sure he would have been a fully paid up member of the Green Brigade had he not been actively involved in the game. He is just obnoxious and I think that a lot of people would agree with that assessment.

Lennon and his sidekicks up and on their feet, contesting decisions. Please note the water bottles; they were soon to be kicked Inverness style as Mr Moody didn't get his own way. I was fully expecting a post match typical blame-athon but he was quite mild. Almost human, being complimentary to the Boro, but stating that his side were infinitely superior in the second half!! Look at the league tables sir!!

He had a small point though; Boro hung on to claim all three points in a game that they should have won comfortably. Heskey was man of the match and had the chances that fell to Bamford gone to Clough or Le Fondre then I would have had to endure smug Lenny's contentment. The win was vital as everyone else in the top six won as well. Very unusual that happens in the crazy old Championship. At least my goals galore treble came up thanks to Man City's late goal against Barca; that was until I checked my account and realised that my bet hadn't gone through!! 90 won then not won, teach me to try and bet on my phone late at night!!!

News that Easdale has resigned at Rangers was hopefully the start of much needed change in the Ibrox boardroom. Things could be finally getting sorted. Wishful thinking perhaps!! Wednesday night and it was back to normal in the Championship as after Tuesday's results Bournemouth slipped to defeat at Forest. Sunday's East Anglian derby is going to be massive but first Boro have to win at Hillsborough backed by 4,500 travelling supporters.

Friday night and I was up to Wishaw near Motherwell to speak at a fundraiser for the local High School along with Frank McAvennie. A very informal affair but a good audience and we helped raise a tidy sum. Saturday morning and up and on the road early to get down to Sheffield for what would surely be a comfortable three points to secure our position in the top two. Wishful thinking!! Visiting Hillsborough is always an emotional experience and a pre match walk round the ground past the Leppings Lane end is always uncomfortable.

The other end of Hillsborough and the Kop, memories of over forty years ago when along with a few hundred other Boro likely lads we tried to take their end. Successful at first but then the fatal end, not knowing the history of the battles at the real Spion Kop we allowed the locals to congregate behind us and when their numbers increased we were unable to retain our position. Very posh words to describe the fact we were ran out and that attempt at victory was about as successful as the afternoon's this time around was going to be.

Revenge, Wednesday did us at the Riverside early in the season and surely this wouldn't be the second Saturday running that Yorkshire rivals did the double over us...

Hillsborough pre match resembling Redcar beach!!

4,500 travelling Boro fans ready to roar on their heroes at Hillsborough. Despite the fantastic support it did us no good. Not helped by the pitch, the system or perhaps the team selection we gave one of our worst performances of the season. They sussed us out closing us down and hustling us out of possession and we couldn't get our passing game going. Fortunately our main rivals also slipped up. Crazy Division - does anyone want to go up?

View from the press box, after Blackpool you thought we'd seen the last of bad pitches not so, this one cut up from the off. No excuses, Boro should have had enough to beat Wednesday anyway, but surely the League should be doing something about pitches that don't allow the ball to run freely.

Monday and I'm off to London to film a podcast with Jimmy Bullard, Tuesday and it's Boro v Millwall at the Riverside, Wednesday and weather permitting Catterick Races. Saturday and Boro's game at Nottingham Forest.

Are you planning a Speakers Evening or fundraiser? You can be assured that as well as speaking I will give maximum help to fundraising on the evening with my auctioneering skills, contact me regarding availability on

Just a thought, nowadays many smaller organisations have stopped doing Sportman's evenings mainly due to the economic recession and the increasing costs. If your club doesn't have the numbers to support the traditional speakers evening then why not book me for a one man show, I regularly do these, my normal After Dinner slot followed by a Q & A session and fundraising activities. I can assure you there is more than enough content to fill the night.

Have a good week.
